I attended an reception for artist Matt Mays last night at the Brio Fine Arts Center in Scottsdale. Having met Matt through his work with children with special needs, it was wonderful to see his art work in person.
About a month ago, I ran into Matt on a local bike path, and as we walked together, got to learn a little bit more about him. He shared that he has displayed his works in many galleries across the U.S., and that his art work was owned by Google, Willie Nelson, Orange County Chopper’s Jesse James, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, and many others. He has a fine arts degree, but said that the biggest challenge of being an original artist was to unlearn all that he learned.
His current exhibit is entitled An Infinite Series of Accidental Events, and his recent paintings in plastic will be on display at the Brio through September 28th, 2007.
