The long awaited McCormick Ranch entrance update is looking better by the day.  This past week the horse sculptures were installed.

Keep an eye on the progress.   It looks like the entrance will be done soon, and I’m looking forward to seeing what it looks with all the plantings completed.  This is one project that’s been well worth the wait!

Scottsdale’s Super This Week – Helpful Traffic Info

by Dru Bloomfield on February 2, 2008

I may seem a little hung up on traffic this weekend, but I’ve been told more than once that over a million extra bodies are expected in downtown Scottsdale this weekend.  Sounds like a huge party to me!

The City of Scottsdale does a great job keeping residents updated. I got an email at 10 p.m. last night, updating me on where to park if I was headed downtown for one of the many parties.  Here’s yet another email update on how to avoid the bottlenecks.

SCOTTSDALE’S “SUPER WEEK” CONTINUES

The world is watching Scottsdale this week – and up to 1 million visitors are expected in town to check out our special events.

The FBR Open golf tournament continues at the TPC Scottsdale, the Sun Country Circuit horse show continues at WestWorld and dozens of Super Bowl related activities will unfold in Scottsdale right up to the big game this Sunday, Feb. 3.

To accommodate special events, the following street closures are taking place in downtown through Feb. 4:
** Stetson Drive, from Fifth Avenue to Scottsdale Road
** Sixth Avenue, west of Scottsdale Road to Stetson Drive
** The north and south sides of the SRP Canal from Goldwater Boulevard to Scottsdale Road
** Marshall Way, south of Via Soleri Drive

More information on these closures is available at:
http://eservices.scottsdaleaz.gov/capitalprojects/proj_report.asp?proj=D0703&status=D0703

There are a number of ways residents and visitors can keep up to date on parking and traffic conditions at the various event venues.

Information will be available on the city’s Web site at:
http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/events/specialevents.asp

Scottsdale also will list special event traffic and parking information on the 312-CITY phone, as well as the Arizona Department of Transportation’s “511″ phone system.

General information about special events and city services is also available by calling 312-3111.

You can also have traffic updates sent to your phone this weekend.
