Scottsdale has been awarded quite a few honors over the years.  And for those of us who live in Scottsdale, we know it’s a great place to live.

I got an email not too long ago from a mom (and her daughters) asking if I could post some info about Scottsdale from a web site they found called AreaVibes. They are moving to Scottsdale later this summer, and were researching the area.

The web site that they found and asked me to share ranked Scottsdale as the #2 city in its Top Ten Best Places to Live list for 2013.

Top Ten Places to Live - Scottsdale

I would definitly agree with the AreaVibes  assessment of the city.

…if you are for the best of everything, then Scottsdale is your city. Scottsdale is even called the Beverly Hills of Arizona. It is home to top rated spas, resorts, restaurants and an amazing selection of retail stores. Along with having the best of everything, you will be impressed with how safe you will feel in Scottsdale. The violent crime rate in less than half of the Arizona average.

I’ve added a link to the AreaVibes web site, so you can research Scottsdale and the surrounding areas,

Labor Day in Scottsdale, like the rest of the nation, symbolizes the end of summer, even though we’ve got at least one more month of hot weather.  A lot of locals head north to the mountains or west to the California beaches to celebrate, but many folks stay at home.

Guitar hero and instrumental rock god Joe Satriani will take the Talking Stick Resort Ballroom stage to support the launch of his brand new album. Unstoppable Momentum and its first single, "A Door Into Summer," feature the incredible twin-guitar harmonies, wild solos and emotional fervor that have won Satriani fans in his three-decade long career.

Monday, September 2nd: Labor Day shopping at Scottsdale Fashion Square

It’s interesting to discover that Labor Day is one of the biggest retail days of the year, so if you’re in the mood for some shopping, Fashion Square will have some great sales and cools temps inside.

And if you in the mood to do a little home shopping, you can start here!

Have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend.

Sunrise at Chaparral Park

Chaparral Park Sunrise, Scottsdale, AZ

I caught this morning sunrise as I was riding through Chaparral Park Friday morning. Was such a striking view that I had to jump off my bike and snap this photo with my iPhone. Even captured a reflection of the moon, partially hidden by the clouds, in the lake.

Scottsdale Schools Start Tomorrow!

Mohave Middle School in Scottsdale Arizona

It’s that time of year already… Scottsdale Unified School District start class tomorrow,  Wednesday, August 7th.

If you are new to the Scottsdale Unified School District, here are several links to get you started with your Scottsdale public school research:

One thing that home buyers new to the Scottsdale area will learn is that the city and school district boundaries are different.  Some area of east Phoenix and Paradise Valley are in the Scottsdale Unified School District.  And, some areas of Scottsdale are in the Paradise Valley and Cave Creek school districts.  This boundary map will help in locating the school district that a Scottsdale home resides in. (Please be sure to verify this info as current with the school district.)

No passing 15 mph in school zone

Also, please be very aware of school speed zones.  You can be sure that the police will be out in full force the first week or two of school, AND you do want to make sure that sure that everyone gets to and from school safely.
