Yesterday, my husband, my mom, and I finally visited the Chihuly exhibit at the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden, located on the southwest boarder of Scottsdale. Visiting the garden itself is a treat, the Chihuly glass made the afternoon spectacular.
I’ve seen other photos of the Chihuly artwork in the gardens. Most of the photos I’ve seen were taken in the evening, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Arriving for our designated time slot of 4-8 p.m., we were delighted to see the late afternoon sun play on the beautiful glass in ways that made it glow naturally.
The exhibit runs through May 31st, with three 4-hour showings per day. Make your reservations. The parking lot was packed, and the gardens were full of people enjoying the warm, sunny weather.

Hi Dru – We went to see Chihuly at the DeYoung in San Francisco. The exhibit was amazing, but this one – wow!

@Vicki – The contrast were striking!
@Cindy – The weather is great, so come on out any time.
@JT – Yes, you must take Francy and enjoy a stroll in the desert. I did get a severe case of camera envy though. Lots of photographers are taking advantage of this amazing opportunity.

Dru,
Great photos, I am amazed at how beautiful and different the glass looks in the daylight as opposed to at night. Truly wonderful experience.

Rod & Patrick,
I’ve heard over and over how amazing the holiday evening exhibits were. My mom had tickets to the one night it was rained out. Glad that you took and shared your photos, Patrick!
