Some Weeks are Crazier than Others

June 16th, 2008 by Dru Bloomfield · 2 Comments

Here it is a week since my last post, and I’m trying to figure out how to get back on the real estate blogging track.  I’m very committed to writing about real estate and sharing what I know, but sometimes, life just gets busy.  And that, can be a good thing.

Last week was Week Two of summer vacation.  For most of us, transitions can be challenging, and for someone with a child with autism, even more so.

As a Realtor, I have only a certain amount of control over my schedule, and our family has learned that we must be flexible.  Contract offers come in and must be presented in a timely manner. A negotiation goes south and requires four hours of non-stop phone calls to get all parties communicating again.  I call a client who just moved into their new home and find that they’ve got a “little” problem.  All of these situations require me to be available to my clients, sooner, rather than later.

And so, last week was like that.  Plus, my son started his summer program in the City of Scottsdale’s Adapted Recreation Program. Our home office addition moved forward quickly.  I made it to the gym every day.  And, my clients received my fullest attention.

What suffered here, was my blog.

And so today, to kick off the week with some inspiration, I share this profile an Olympic athlete who will be competing in Beijing this coming August.  Melanie Roach is a mother of three (one with autism), wife to a state representative, and business owner.  She also happens to be a weightlifter, who can lift double her 117 pounds.

So, this week, when I need a reminder to be more focused, to be strong, and to do it with humor, I will think of Melanie.

Have a great week!

Some weeks are easier to fit everything in than others. When something has to give, it can’t be your family. Welcome back, take a big breath, it is all good!
