I’ve watched the “meme” game being played about the blog-o-sphere and thought it was fun to know trivia about bloggers that I’d never discover in any other scenario. Fun to read, excruciating to write. I got tagged twice in one day, over two weeks ago, and I’ve just been pretending it never happened, much like:
1. My 52nd birthday that I celebrated about that same time. (No, I don’t dye my hair…yet.)
And since the rules say to list 7 things about myself, here are the rest:
2. I played string bass in high school orchestra. It was taller than me by a foot, wider too, but the other bass player was really, really cute and also played in a rock band.
3. I moved out of my parent’s house and onto southern Oregon via Greyhound bus on the day of my 18th birthday. It was just time.
4. I’m an education junkie. Knowledge is power. Degrees, credentials, I figure if your gonna put in the time, you might as well get the piece of paper.
5. People tell me I’m very patient, and I always have to look around the room to see who they are talking about. (Having a son with special needs has forced me to be a better person, so I give him all the credit.)
6. Weight training, running, and bike riding are three of my favorite forms of personal meditation. I just go inside and be with me.
7. My family is my life. If everything is going smoothly on the home front, I’m a happy camper.
“Tag, you’re it”: Tyler, Leif, Irene, Dee, and because I’ve spent far too long on this (see, I am impatient), I’ll link you to three meme’s that already exist for Teri, da House Chick and da Arizona Mortgage Guru!
Here’s the game: (1) list 7 things about yourself, (2) tag 7 people to do the “meme” on themselves including a link to their site.
News Update:
I just thought of a pretty cool #8 (which is allowed since I was tagged twice!) …. John Wake and I grew up around the corner from each other in east Phoenix, even went to the same grade school (Orangedale), and just missed knowing each other by a year. We finally met about two weeks ago at an ARMLS focus group on technology, and then bumped into each other at the gym a couple days ago. We both live and work in McCormick Ranch now. Small world!

Wow – I’m having trouble imagining actually *liking* weights and running. Nice to meetcha!
Dru,
Thanks for sharing. I was waiting for your MeMe actually. I knew you’d been tagged and was hoping you were going to share something with us.
Now about that bass player…..

Shailesh, This meme was much harder than I imagined…it’s so much easier to write about other things and other people. Even though one of my nicknames growing up was “Drusilly”, I take myself too seriously sometimes!
Be sure to check out my added #8 — one of those afterthoughts that I shoulda / coulda included in the first place.
As for the bass play, the next year I switched to cello and payed a lot more attention to my music!
