In response to park users who wanted earlier access to the park, the opening time at the Chaparral Park off-leash area changed to 6 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 30. The dog park located on the north end of Chaparral Park near the intersection of Hayden Road and McDonald Drive. The earlier opening time will be in place on a trial basis through the fall. During this period the city will monitor any concerns from staff, user groups and neighbors to help guide future hours of operation.

The off-leash area will still close every Tuesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon for regularly scheduled maintenance. The area is also closed periodically when it rains or if there is frost on the ground.
