The Fascination with Rain in Phoenix

by Dru Bloomfield on December 1, 2007

Do not enter flooded road signIt’s kind of like a national holiday when it rains in the Phoenix metro area.  I guess it’s because this is as close as we get to a “snow day”.  When we get as much rain as we’ve received in the past 24 hours, with more in the forecast, people do crazy things, like drive without regard or go out just for the sake of getting wet.

Look at the Phoenix real estate blogs in the past day and you will see how we are all obsessed with rain!

Growing up in Phoenix, we always went out to play in the rain.  Sometimes, I still go out and drive through the old neighborhoods that have no underground drainage, just looking for the largest puddles to drive through.

As I look out my window today, I see that “my” rock bridge is covered.

Today – What bridge? McCormick Bridge - under water

Pretty cool!

I’m off to show houses this morning, so my husband and son took off on a walk, camera in hand.  We’ll see what other water they find.

Enjoy the weather – we’ll be back to sunny skies before you know it!
