Do Buyers and Sellers Benefit from Real Estate Blogs?

November 15th, 2007 by Dru Bloomfield · No Comments

While in Vegas last week for the National Association of REALTORS® Conference, I met Dan Green of Bring the Blog after one of the Blogger Q&A sessions.  He had been wondering around with his video camera, stopping bloggers, asking a couple basic questions, and recording their responses.  Now I know why!

It’s a cool montage about real estate blogging from the perspective of those who blog.

We are living in a fascinating time in the evolution of real estate. Buyers, Sellers, and Realtors are adapting to new market conditions, tools, and the increased abundance of readily available information. In many respects, time is the new currency.

So, back to my question:
Do buyers and sellers benefit from real estate blogs?

Blogging takes time for Realtors, but it absolutely helps them find their voice and become better agents. Writing about a real estate topic or experience, means that an agent has to understand what they are talking about, and be on the front lines in a market that requires education, experience, and tenacity.

Through reading real estate blogs, home buyers and sellers are able to get up-to-date information from true real estate professionals who know their markets and can share that information in a way that timely and useful. After all, don’t we all feel that there’s more to do in a day than there are hours.

To me, blogging is the current answer to the information glut and time crunch that buyers and sellers experience on a daily basis. Both buyers and sellers are looking for an agent who truly knows their market, has exceptional real estate skills, and that they can trust and connect with. Since decisions to buy or sell are typically made well in advance of the actual transaction, following a real estate blog provides home buyers and sellers the opportunity to follow, listen, question, and learn from an agent in a neutral environment, until the time is right to establish a business relationship.
