McCormick Ranch Pine Golf Course Re-Opens Today

October 12th, 2007 by Dru Bloomfield · No Comments

McCormick Ranch Golf Club has just completed major renovations over the past two summers, and will be reopening the Pine course this morning.  From my bird’s eye view, I look forward to the return of the golfers!

Over the course of the past two summer, the irrigation systems for both the Pine and Palm courses have been upgraded.  In the summer of 2006, four new pumping stations were added and nine hole of irrigation were replaced.  During this past summer, the remaining 27 hole were updated.

Besides replacing all of the main line, new lateral service was installed every 60 feet, along with 6,000 new sprinkler heads.  Stuart Kirk, General Manager of the golf club, shared that the previous sprinkler system was 35 years old, and the improvements made were state of the art.  The computer management system can control the irrigation timing from the office and also from handheld devices on the course.  The system includes a weather tracking system, that monitors many variable including rainfall, wind, and evaporation rates, and can adjust the watering accordingly.  Total cost of this project was $5 million, and Stuart expects the investment to provide for better course conditions and also water savings.

The Pine course has been re-seeded with winter grass and is ready to play.  Both the Pine and Palm courses will remain open until October 29th, when the Palm course will be closed for re-seeding.
